Verdant

There is nothing quiet about Verdant. And yet it demands silence.

Working entirely in deep olive and forest green with a heavily textured impasto surface, Verdant draws the eye into a series of nested geometric forms — each layer pulling inward toward a raw, unresolved centre where a flicker of copper breaks the composition open. It is controlled and primal in equal measure.

This is a work that changes with the light. In the morning it is earthy and grounded. By evening, under warm artificial light, the greens deepen and the copper catches. It is never quite the same painting twice.
